Now although a white iPhone version does not appeal to me just as the white iPad did not, I'm pretty sure my wife would love to exchange her black iPhone for a white one.
The release of this new color sure does concern me (as others have stated) as to the release of the iPhone 5. This has to spell doom for a summer release and possibly pushes it to the Christmas holiday time frame. :(

I've seen the blue screen on XP. It's funny because I've been told by Windows users that it doesn't exist in XP, yet I witnessed it two weeks ago when a colleague of mine was trying to do something with Adobe Acrobat. The program just spazzed and the blue screen came up.
The reason you don't see it much is because the new default in XP is to just reboot the machine instead of sitting on that screen. It's still there.

Why no Thunderbolt cards for MacPro users?
Your answer is found in MR's story on TB (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/25/notes-of-interest-on-thunderbolt-and-macbook-pro/) when it first came out on the MBP's:
- CNet's live coverage reveals that there are no plans to offer Thunderbolt PCIe cards. In fact, Intel says that you will need a new computer/motherboard to get Thunderbolt. That means Mac Pro owners won't be able to add it on to their systems.
10:25 a.m. (Dong Ngo) : There won't be TB PCIe cards it seems. You'll need a new computer.
10:34 a.m. (Dong Ngo) : There won't be add-in TB adapters, you'll need a new computer/motherboard that supports TB.
Since it's PCIe related, my guess is that its integration goes deeper than just a "PCIe socket" on the logic board. Just slapping a TB PCIe card in a MacPro won't do it, apparently. Bummer, yeah.
I'm glad I sold my 2008 Mac Pro and picked up one of those new MBP's. I love being able to take my Mac(Book) Pro anywhere with me. Couldn't have done that very easily/conveniently with the Mac Pro. Now hurry up TB dock/RAID. :)

everytime apple has posted earnings in the past 2 years, i wake up the following morning and go 'why didnt i ever invest in apple'.
Damnit.
Apple hasn't done that well over the last year.
It has done great over the last 6 - 7 years but it has been fairly static over the last year or so.
In fact last year in January it was higher than it is right now.

Hopefully the ifixit teardown will reveal if there is a 2nd bay accessible for manually adding an SSD if I choose the 1TB option, I want to just put a 128GB or even a 64GB SSD just for applications and the system and store music/movies/photos/docs on the 1TB. I have my windows desktop setup this way with a 64GB and it is wonderful, I don't want to pay $600 to get a 256GB SSD plus 1TB.

i engaged an octo late last week, will set up another tomorrow. they both run 24/7.
the graphic designers using them rarely require more than 1 core anyway :)

Please run the bigadv units, you will get much better PPD. It looks like you are running the regular SMP client for now.
Use -smp 8 if the are 2008 or earlier, -smp 16 if they are 2009 otco...

The rest of the design is not so bad but I wish Apple would get over the urge to make things look like their physical incarnations. I know there is a name for this but it escapes me at the moment.

I dunno, the XBox seems to be doing pretty well, and I don't see how one could say that Microsoft had a monopolistic advantage there. All they really had was a brand name and mucho $$$ for marketing, and they managed to establish a foothold in the game industry.

Wake me when iMacs have matte screens again.
I have the last model of 24" iMac that had an anti-glare screen. I just had to make the first repair, replaced the hard drive.
My fear is that I will be forced to build a Hackintosh or get an iMac with one of these new cheaper screens.

my fear is the democrats will try to use this a political gain and that is so very wrong both to the military and for this good event.
It turns a great event into worthless BS. It was just luck of the draw that a Dem was in power when this happen and it was only a matter of time. I already am watching some people try to turn it into political gain and it makes me sick.

Apple has great products, but we are going to be experiencing more than a recession. Donald Trump stated that what was going to happen in North America is going to make Russia look like a picnic during world war 2. The CEO of Wall-Street stated two years ago that there will be a world economic crash worse than what happened during the 1930's due to the amount of debt. The European Union Banks stated 1.5 years ago that they were preparing their banks for a world economic collapse. Unfortunately most of us are living the status quo and do not want to acknowledge that our way of life is going to drastically change. Unfortunately even a company as great as Apple will not be able to retain the level of what the stocks are worth even at todays low. My advice is pay of your debts... sell your stocks while you still have money, sell your home and then when the collapse occurs then invest.

Maybe a little less NPR would do you some good...
