Just updated, and the UI does appear to be smoother. I agree with other posts that third party apps do not sometimes begin with a smooth animation.

Can someone confirm there isn't going to be a to-do list in Lion? This is ridiculous!

There is a To Do list in iCal in Lion.

Still waiting here at Fashion Island - crossing fingers!

I really hope they have them in stock for you, man, and you emerge victorious. I just wanna see someone win today... besides Charlie Sheen.

Hahaha! Thanks man! Its a good day, no matter what!

People, the single worst thing that the Mac community faces in the area of security is upon us right now...

Little security experts who cry exploit.

Thanks to the media jumping at anything that looks like it could be a security problem with Mac OS X, we now have security experts who are willing to make half-baked claims to draw attention to themselves. But even more frightening is the fact that the Mac community isn't a target because it is a good target or an easy target... no, we are a target because it is the most notable target these days.

So, how do we fix this?

    Frankly, I don't know.

    ...........<text omitted>............

The only thing I can suggest (which I doubt anyone will follow) is to avoid the hysteria. When a real threat emerges, you'll most likely hear about it long before you are actually in any danger from it.

I am with you 100%. Every time one of these 'expert reports' comes out, I see a plethora of panic posts following it. The common theme is; 'we're screwed, someone save us, why doesn't Apple do something!

I think the majority of the security reports are motivated by ego, or most likely, profit. When companies like Network Associates funds a security vulnerability study, it is not done because they are a concerned, benevolent member of the technical community. They are out to make a buck. What they promote is fear. What they sell is reassurance. Nice gig.

There is a Website called AmpleStuff that has living accessories geared toward larger people in general. This includes the Ample-Sponge, for cleaning those hard-to-reach sensitive areas. I'm not making this up. Laugh if you want, but products like this do allow big people a bit of dignity.

We are learning some awfully interesting things about you today, lol.

Whatever floats your boat though lol:D

They're still using this piece of marketing on the iMac page:

The iMac display looks great from any seat in the house, thanks to a premium display technology called in-plane switching (IPS). IPS gives you a bright picture with excellent color — even if you’re viewing the display from the side.

EDIT: Lots of people beat me; irrelevant post.

Someone correct me if i am wrong here but what this means is that if a mac user wants to install windows in bootcamp and parallels he is going to have to get the business or premium edition??

Boot Camp is not virtualization, by any definition. (And no, there's no way Microsoft or anyone else could argue that it is.)

OSX was built on UNIX. Just like Android is built in Linux.

I did make an off the cuff statement about ChromeOS. But my reasoning was that OSX is a little bit more than ChromeOS, so rolling it out and making it available is a little different.

OSX was not built on UNIX, it is Mach/XNU with a BSD subsystem, it is UNIX-like, much like linux.

OSX and Chrome OS are on par, both are heavily modified versions of an open-source operating system, with extensive APIs to make them more user friendly.

As long as my daughter is in there, I will have a say who goes in the bathroom. What are you going to do, big boy? Stand outside with a shotgun? Feel up anyone who approaches? What threat do you imagine a transgender person offers to your daughter? The fruit of the tree of knowledge?

Seriously, why not an Imac with touch-screen right now? Will we need to wait for the next iMac update to see this technology implemented?

Apple is surely working on it:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/7961480/Apple-files-iMac-touch-patent.html

And, besides that, OS X Lion will be 100% focused on touch technology... and were not talking about an Ipad OS...

I heard on the radio that the first thing he did every morning was to pull up TMZ to see what Charlie had done so if he knew whether to go to work or not

And I saw a tweet that said that Lindsay Lohan was worried about him
You know if she is worried about him you have reached the bottom

    LMAO what a boss!

And Lindsay Lohan being concerned over someone going on a 'binge'...to be honest I don't even have words to express my thoughts

In other words, iPod and music-related revenues are still less than half the total.

Which reverses the trend from last quarter when iPods and their accessories outsold Mac by about $100 million. CPU revenue was up 19% sequentially, while iPod and iPod accessory revenue was only up 3%.

The artists must be thrilled

If they sell more songs, amass larger fanbases and get more people going to live events and concerts I bet they'd be thrilled too. (Norolleyes)

Has anybody thought these might all just be preventative filings?

Apple is smart to file a patent on something that might be "similar" to technology they have developed just to maintain their exclusivity of the technology.

Apple might be filing this just so they can say, haha, Microsoft, you can't produce this because we invented it first....and then Apple moves on to the next big thing without ever producing a product based on the patent.

As far as the trademark stuff goes, it is the same logic. Apple needs to protect as many derivations of the "*Pod" mark in order to make their Pod trademarks even stronger. Apple will probably never produce something with the "doPod" trademark, but any other company thinking about naming their product the "doPod" will think twice before getting into a legal battle with Apple, who has one of the most recognized digital entertainment trademarks in the world.

You can show me Patent and Trademark filings all day long and I will simply reply with a "prove it"

Of all the things that iPhone needs soon, LTE is not one of them.

We can all wait until its widespread, and usable.

It's already available to 110 Americans. It will reach over half of the US by year's end thanks to Verizon. When you look at AT&T's 3G penetration at the time of the iPhone 3G launch, it's actually not that far off.

The real issue is having a radio that allows for decent battery life. Even if they can consolidate it into 1 chip, that doesn't mean Apple will be pleased with its battery performance enough to include it in their phones.

My understanding of the MDM9615 is that it's a powerhouse.

The next generation MDM9615 will support LTE (FDD and TDD), DC-HSPA+, EV-DO Rev-B and TD-SCDMA

Basically, that means it supports LTE, super high speed 3G HSPA+ (think T-mobile's 42 mbps) and EV-DO Rev-B (CDMA). That means it should be a worldphone chip, and it's also fabbed on the brand new 28nm process, which means it will be as low power as one could expect. That makes it an excellent candidate for the 2012 iPhone 6.

The MDM9615 and MDM8215 are designed to pair up with the WTR1605 radio frequency IC and PM8018 power management IC to provide a highly integrated chipset solution. The WTR1605 will be Qualcomm’s first Radio Transceiver in Wafer Level Package and will be a highly integrated radio transceiver with multi-mode (LTE FDD, LTE TDD, CDMA, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, GSM) and multi-band support.

TD-SCDMA is the CDMA variant they use in China. Outside of penta-band GSM (which I don't know if this offers, and I don't see why it wouldn't since the current iPhone Gobi chip offers it), this radio can be used on every damn carrier out there in the world essentially.

So you don't think it's a problem that a regular iPhone 4 case doesn't fit the white model. Ok.

No kidding! Why do people get so upset when someone criticizes Apple? It's not like their dad owns the company. That is a huge issue when it comes to cases obviously.

it still wont run on hulu

But the hulu plus service runs just fine (http://www.hulu.com/plus#devices) on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. There is no technical reason why regular hulu can't run on your iOS device. It's a financial decision by hulu.
