Parallels takes way too long to launch, and the GUI sucks.
Mine pops up instantly. 2.0 GHz Macbook. What's wrong with the GUI? Is it just that it's not Cocoa, the holy grail, or is there something tangible that isn't good? I've found it easy to use and unobtrusive.
Plus, do you really think a Qt C++ wrapper around Carbon is faster than direct Cocoa calls?
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if it were. Many of the things that make Cocoa such a joy for programmers also slow it down at runtime. That's just a design decision that Apple made, and with faster computers always coming out, it becomes less of a drawback at runtime.
I just want a nice documented-based Cocoa app that behaves like a Mac app, with a fast virtualization at its core :)
Err, why should a virtual machine be document-based? That doesn't make any sense to me.
The whole thing that drew my attention to your original post was that comment about Cocoa. Why do you, as an end-user, care about that? Cocoa is great, but there seems to be a mentality here that anything else is inferior or a second-class citizen. I kind of understand why that mentality came to be - Cocoa came with OS X, Carbon is a bridge to the past in OS 9. Thus people automatically assumed that Cocoa = good and Carbon = bad. But Carbon is every bit as capable as Cocoa, and thus why an end-user would care one bit about either is beyond me.
Granted, Parallels is done with Qt, which looks a little bit "off" sitting next to a Carbon or Cocoa app, but does that really matter? It looks damn close, and frankly, looks mean nothing to me if the interface works intuitively. And that it does.
I'm not picking on you, just trying to understand your reasoning. ;)

pfft, this should not be front page news, hell not even second page... just a bunch of hearsay from a CR that knows nothing about it and speculates BS.
No kidding! You'd think this whole site was just based on "rumors". Jeeze!

It is not me who decided ... Osama was a Terrorist long before 911 ... you do not seem to know of his involvement ... you should read up on his life of Terrorism.
Yeah, it's all about one guy who was leader of the bad men. And none of the bad men could think for themselves, and now he's gone, they won't know what to do - and we'll all be happy and safe.
Sleep well!

I'll bring my systems back online 24/7. I kinda got tires of the locked up core on my macs so I fold only on my pc laptop during the day.

There should be a setting something like:
- Never ask for password for purchases of $X and under.
- Always ask for password for purchases of $Y and over.
The first one would be nice so it I could set it to free and easily update my apps.
The second would help prevent cases like the OP.

Precisely! Do you read the books too? I would assume so, hehe
You would assume correctly. :)
It is a very good series. However, I do not have covers for them. :D

Great pictures.
Proof positive that Apple did modify the phone but not the antenna. How do I know that?
Because you've all convinced me that Steve The Great, is never wrong.
Oh crap! Did I just say that? LOL

I did that but it still does not work. I rebooted my macbook, installed the latest security updates, wiped my 3GS, tried restoring and then updating to 4.3.2 - same thing just happened.
I fixed it on my end - it was my work's firewall. The wired internet is firewalled really hardcore, but the wifi is not - it verified on the wifi. If you're still having issues, maybe it's your work's firewall or your own.

Apple Store employees know ZERO about future product releases except for what they read on MacRumors and the like on the internet. They are given no prior knowledge to a new product release.

Give us a 4.3" screen so the phone would have to be somewhat bigger - big enough to support two chips for 3G and 4G.
LTE will arrive first on iPad 3 in Spring 2012. Plenty of room inside with a 10" screen.

Call me crazy, but I'd not be surprised if Leopard was a free update for Tiger owners - if not all Mac owners.
You're crazy. :) But one thing I would like to see is a free upgrade to iLife for everyone who upgrades Leopard. Or else some kind of Leopard / iLife buy-together discount. That would be most welcome.

Even more entertaining is the fact that Apple is so arrogant they fail to realize how stupid they look.
Suing their biggest vendor.
It doesn't get any more stupid than that.
Samsung is so arrogant, they fail to realize how stupid they look.
Ripping off their biggest customer. Then suing their biggest customer.
It doesn't get any more stupid than that.
What is apple complaining about
I think this is a lawsuit its best for everyone to avoid.
Another repost of this picture that was long since debunked. The picture claims that the Samsung F700 was showed first on Cebit 2006. If you google for "Samsung Cebit 2006" and then for "Samsung Cebit 2007", the first finds lots of photos of Samsung phones that look completely different than any iPhone, the second finds a tech website that dug out a link to their own reporting from Cebit 2007 where the F700 was shown as a reply to the iPhone and the LG phone.

Thanks for the replies...
Ok, so AT&T definitely drops calls; that's a given it seems...but for current customers is the dropped calls enough of a pain to leave AT&T/iPhone and go to another carrier??
Thank you,
olimits7
I recommend trying it yourself.....you have 30 days to try it and see if you experience dropped calls in your area.

We've alreaddy seen threads entitled "Waiting for Santa Rosa" though, I think this will be a never ending cycle under intel. :(
Intel just needs to start working on a line of chips codenamed Godot now. :D
Would anyone happen to know if they changed the case design.
The apple store is still down
The 17 inch looks almost affordable, almost.
Store's back up now; the case looks exactly the same aside from the additional FW800 port on the 15-inch model.
The 17-inch model is exactly as affordable as it was, no more, no less (assuming the purchaser's cash/credit situation hasn't changed).
