Those are companies people don't get attached to. Apple and other tech companies are a much more personal choice, generally. It probably also helps because those people are excited that Apple is making more money, allowing them to deliver more new and innovative products then would be possible with lower cash flow.
I guess I must be old school, I'm a consumer and I think about my wallet before the corporations treasure chest. Apple isn't pumping most of the profits back int the company or paying it out to shareholders. It's sitting in the bank. Or maybe they have something unimaginably huge in mind and I guess that is a possibility.

Wow! That is thin, almost too thin. I would be afraid to drop this thing or even press it to my face too hard. Moving the screen out to edge may result in a lot of broken units.

Once you are a market leader, it's almost impossible to be unseated in that market unless you make a lot of mistakes. It comes down to top-of-mind awareness. When you think portable music, what is the first thing you think about? iPod. 90% of consumers will buy from the brand with the #1 top-of-mind awareness, and it goes down steeply from there.
Apple needs the competition in order to evolve better products, but it's not a huge threat in terms of Apple losing the top spot. It may lose a few points of market share, but it will certainly continue to lead the market no matter how much cash Microsoft throws down. Apple is simply better at marketing, better at making things cool, and those are the two things that have made the iPod a success -- two things that, I might add, Microsoft is terrible at.
I wish Microsoft luck with this, but would advise stockholders to get out now.

I don't know about setting thresholds like that, but I sure would like to be able to download (and re-download) free apps without being prompted every time.

It really is a tough choice. I think they're both wolves, because they are both acting weird. Nies may be acting wierder though.

Things seem to be smoother with my VZ iPhone 4 opening and closing programs. I always though my iPTouch 4G was snappier than my VZ iPhone but I think they are on par with each other now. This probably has nothing to do with it, but I just did a speedtest and I have yet to ever hit those numbers until now. I was averaging anywhere from 650-1200kbps and sometimes 1500kbps on rare occasions.

Now, when they're talking of a replacement, are they thinking of killing Charlie's character off and Rob Lowe (or whomever) would be some new character that comes out of nowhere, it would they keep Charlie's character, swap actors, and act as if nothing happened?
I personally think they're going to kill Charlie off, Alan gets the house in the will, and then Judith kicks Herb out and Herb moves in with Alan. Herb and Judith's marriage has been rocky, I think the writers did that so they'd have a plan when Charlie Sheen inevitably went off the wagon.

I noticed it right away mate, and I thought I was being a little pernickety until I noticed more people cropping up in threads here and especially on the Apple discussion forums.
If Apple had added features to iOS 4 over the 4.1-4.3 updates which would explain degraded performance, then fair enough, but Home Sharing and Personal Hotspot are the biggest new feature in the iOS 4 updates, and I don't honestly don't think for one second anyone is stupid enough to believe either impact the way the iPhone UI animates.
Anyway, I've restored to 4.3.2 via iTunes and while the stock apps run perfectly, the real test is when the device has a load on it, so I'm going to install some third party apps and see how things go.
Here's an advance hint ... it'll be the exact same as 4.3.2.

It seems to develop a few hours after you've setup apps. etc how you like, but just after a restore you'd forgive them for fixing it.
It's that fit and finish that I hate my device loosing for no good reason. They did add a new animation element when opening and closing apps in that the background now fades black, I'm guessing it's that addition that's causing these problems.
